Crimecraft Refused Classification in Guess Where?
Written by Aaron Mitchell | Tuesday, 01 December 2009 00:47

Crimecraft1

Poor Crimecraft, it's not had a good time of things. Poor preview opinions from E3, numerous question marks all over its pay models, shamelessly using the word 'craft' from a certain other major mmorpg to try and crib some interest. Things have not been looking good for the title, not to mention the fact that mmorpg's were sooo 2007.

Well it's also been refused classification by our notoriously draconian (by our standards, certain Attorney Generals think they're subversive and corrupt) Office of Film and Literature Classification. Crimecraft's crime? In game drugs given drug like names that have positive drug like effects. Oh the humanity. Crimecraft has a character class called a Bio Forger who can actually make 'Boosts' that improve characters stats, such as Anabolics that are described as having an effect 'like steroids', does that mean testicle shrinkage and mood swings? Drug paraphernalia also pops up in the form of syringes and rubber tubing, all big no no's on the OFLC's hit list.

But think about it this way, if we banned every game that featured an oddly colored, chemical like product that improved the attributes of your character we would be looking at a lot of banned games out there. Or to put it another way, if the setting of Warcraft warped to the modern day what exactly would we call all those buff potions and spells? Isn't an Alchemist just a medieval drug dealer?
