New Prince of Persia Game Announced

Well the most depressing news this year has just hit. Yes that’s right, the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Movie is going to get a Prince of Persia game released very close to it. That’s not the bad news; the bad news is IT WONT BE A SEQUAL TO LAST YEARS GAME!

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will be a new part of the Sands of Time story line. Because of this it seems the cell shaded prince of last year has had his return delayed. Does anyone else think that this is just going to confuse the hell out of everyone? Not to mention that I want to know what else happens with the Prince and Elika.

Oh… that’s right; no one knows who I'm talking about since you didn’t play last years Prince of Persia game. Well shame on you! That is one of my favourite games of last year and even last generation. With fantastic graphics and some of the smoothest platforming it really is a game everyone should play.

Anyways, back to the main point. Speaking during Ubisoft's second half 2009 financial results, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said

“The goal is to reach both audiences, the core and casual gamers. It will be a game that will have lots of combat, with the possibility for gamers that are not as good - a level for beginners. In that sense we are trying to cover both groups”

And that the game will contain "fan-favorite elements from the original series."

No word on if it is going to be a complete tie in game with the actors of the film appearing as their characters or what part of the story line it will take. But thanks to Geoff Keighley has stated that the first trailer for the game will be shown at the Spike VGA awards. For those that don’t know, it’s December 12th.

Look I know I sound upset but I'm just happy to have another Prince of Persia game, I need reassurance that good platforming can be done by that studio after Assassins Creed II and their fucking Tombs….

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is set for release in May next year for consoles and handhelds, Aka PS3, 360, DS, PSP (most probably PC too.)

Gah! I am guttered not to continue with the 'Prince' and Elika.

I loved the original Prince of Persia Games no question (and the original, original games too), but I was far more excited about this new direction the series was taking.

I wasn't sure if i was retarded or not. Not to mention the game ended on a cliffhanger of all cliffhangers, then the DLC just repeated that!

I want my Prince and Elika!
