Naughty Dog, What the Hell?

OK its time for some truths that might hurt a few of you, but first let me say I love Uncharted 2. This is my personal favourite game of the year. The Single player game is the best part; the Co-op and Multiplayer have kept me playing the game, but what the hell are you thinking Naughty Dog?

If you are wondering what I'm talking about, first you need to know the game has XP in the form of Cash you get to spend on upgrades. You earn cash over Single player, Muliplayer and Co-op game modes. This is where my problem lies with the game; if you leave a Multiplayer Match early you get fined. Not a small fine either, $40,000 dollars. To put that in perspective, one kill is worth $500…. That’s 80 kills worth of cash that I get punished for having a life and wanting to do something else besides playing your game.

I left a game early because I was leaving to play sport, not something that can wait. I came home wanting to relax and play some Uncharted 2. BAM! I see I have lost $40,000 that I could have spent on upgrades. That pissed me off so much that I didn’t even play Uncharted 2, I just went off and played some Borderlands. Seriously Naughty Dog what the hell are you thinking punishing players for leaving a room?

Oh now that I have got started I might as well ask why can't I stay in a room after going through matchmaking once? You can't keep that room open? Seriously? Some of you might not get the big deal, but imagine every match you play. Every single one having to go through matchmaking, in a long gaming session this is incredibly frustrating. Call of Duty 4 came out a while ago and did it right, is it that hard to just copy what works?

Uncharted I love you, but do you love me back? I'm really not into the whole punish your lover scene

Hate systems like that! What about if you've got to go have dinner, or are having lag problems.

It's no fair. :-/

It spoils what is otherwise one of the best multiplayers out there, especially for a 3rd person shooter.

If you have to go afk just go and be afk until the match ends. It's not why they implemented the penalty system. It's for people who freqeuntly "hate that map" or "fuck that I'm leaving" and go off leaving the teams unbalanced and turning the match into shit for the other 9 remaining players.
Also nobody turns on his PS3 and wants to play 5 mintues before turning it off again. Just ask yourself if you have the next 15 minutes it takes to play another match. If not, why even start a game. If the mafia breaks into your house and you can't finish the game just turn off the tv and leave the ps3 on... you won't get a penalty.
If ND is reading this right now, here's my ridiculous idea: Implement a "turn off PS3 after the match is finished". It helps people who don't want to spend 1$ more on electrical bills and still prevents ragequitters and people who tend to hate maps to switch to a "better" game, in combination with the cash penalty.

There are a few other flaws though.
The penalty which locks your upgrades for leaving a game (I got a already purchased taunt locked up until lvl50). That's not necessary (40000$ is a good punishment on its own, it takes you at least 2 hours to replay that money, but this shit is just frustrating). I was fined because a friend of mine lost the connection to multiplayer matches 5 times in a row up on connecting and I quit the games cause I didn't want to him to wait 15 minutes until we try again and get the next fail. I don't know a solution to this proplem.
Second: Some games start with unbalanced teams right away (5vs4 players on connecting to a MP game). MW2 does a better job here as it connects a new player instantly. I don't know if this is a exploit that some people are using to avoid maps or if it has something to do with a faulty network.

On a personal note: YOUR GAME IS FUCKING AWESOME!
