 Post subject: Playing games on Mac

Shanna got her 27" I5 iMac last night. Just tried playing Sims 3 with everything cranked up and it couldn't handle it.

Can't wait to try Steam on it though.

I think the problem with gaming on a mac is that devs arnt going to put the time in to optimize the code around the mac OS like they would for the PC.

I would've thought the other way and said that the mac just isn't built for games.

I am also excited about steam on mac, though less so now that I have a windows computer for the very reason that steam wasn't on mac...

I'm not sure a PC with the same specs as the Mac would've been able to run The Sims 3 at full spec either.

An i5 with a 5850? I would be extremely surprised.
What resolution, AA and AF 1920x1080 4xAA and 2xAF?
