So I threw something a bit different up on the blog tonight, hopefully try and generate a little bit of discussion.

Have a read and let me know what you think.

The character style of Warcraft has always appealed to me, and is mostly why a tracked down an old copy of Warcraft 3 to play on the PC that's hooked up to my TV.

But I'm not sure I can picture it yet, Aaron. I just have this image in my head of two fighters standing face to face hitting each other in turn-based animations with numbers blipping above their heads.

I think you're right in saying that anything they do will sell truckloads. Having said that, they used to say that Sony could do anything with Everquest and it would sell trillions. That ended very quickly once a competitor entered the ring.

I loved Warcraft 3 but damned if I can remember much of it.
No idea who the characters are at all. But I still think it's a great idea.
But then, I'd buy any 3D fighter no matter what is was.
Though a Warcraft one does sound excellent, can imagine the costumes, special moves etc.
Could be awesomeness.

I have a couple of major problems with this concept.

1. I cant play it now.

2. Would have to wait for Warcraft V Soul Cal/Capcom/Marvel

3. Who would win the big bad arse dude or Nightmare. hmmmmmmm?????

Very cool idea champ

I'm not a huge fan of 2/3D fighting games but if it was set in the Warcraft world and played like a Soul Calibre game then I think it'd be pretty good. I haven't played the new SC yet, but the one on XBOX was great.

I was on WoW the other night and had some similiar thoughts although my thinking was going more along the lines of a Dynasty Warriors type of game only with more depth (mind you, the last one I played was on the psone so they may have evolved since then!). You know, one where you have to capture an objective and battle it out between all the classes of both Alliance and Horde. Kinda like WoW's battlefields, but being able to control like a console action game. After hours and hours (and hours) in front of the PC, sitting on the couch with a console & controller seems quite inviting! And while a port of WoW to a console wouldn't work unless something for the controls is worked out, a version like either of the above would provide much entertainment.

No... they haven't, and I'm the resident Dynasty Warriors fanboy!

Well to be fair you now need to control bases and you can climb ladders and swim.

But yeah, a console version of Warcraft that wasn't an MMO or an RTS would be very welcome. The idea for the game actually came about when I was tucking my son in that night and as I turned to go I noticed he'd arranged all his WoW figures (he has about eight) so they were fighting each other and I immediately thought 'hey, a Warcraft fighting game would be the balls'.

Unfortunately Blizzard make such insane amounts of money with the few games they make they don't need anything else!
